Theofanis Stavrou George ( Greek  Θεοφάνης Γιώργος Σταύρου , * 1934 ) is a Greek-American historian with a focus on Eastern and South Eastern European history and Neogräzist .

Stavrou is Professor of History and Director of Modern Greek Studies at the University of Minnesota as well as the founder and editor of Modern Greek Studies .

Stavrou works especially for history of Russia and its relations in Eastern Europe , the religious history of Russia and Orthodoxy in general, the South Eastern European history, the history of modern Greece and its relations with the Slavic environment . In addition, he has also various authors of modern Greek literaturedevoted ( Kostis Palamas , Dionysios Solomos , Skiathos ).
