Dead Philadelphians
Danny Castle, a young man of Greek-American ancestry, angers the mob after intercepting a payoff to crooked politicians. Safe for a few years in the last place he'd want to hide -- a Federal Prison camp, framed for somebody else's crime -- he's out now and on the run. Thinking to disappear in the land of his forefathers, a remote beach of southern Crete, he finds his enemies have cornered him. And these are serious bad guys: Herschel Jolly, L.A. mob boss; Sun and Moon, deadly Korean hit men; the Jaeger twins, fearsome gangsters; and Dr. Ilse Wilamowitz, who doesn't have a single living patient! Fortunately he has allies: Goomba, an enormous pro-football player turned private eye; Barbara, his tutor from prison; Manoli, owner of the best taverna in Kali Vrisi; and Yanni, the strongest man on the island.
An action thriller that moves from the mean streets of Los Angeles to stark South Dakota plains, to the slums of Berlin, and mountains of sunny Crete for a nerve-wracking, terrifying climax. This novel of fast paced adventure, spiced with a dose of humor and romance, will appeal to all who enjoy the mystery/adventure genre, especially when set in international, exotic locales. Frost, former professor of Greek History and Archaeology, has also written a best-selling survey of Greek history, and thus is able to enliven Dead Philadelphians with a wealth of fascinating facts and details about Greece and the Southern Mediterranean.
