Translator, scholar and poet, Andonis Decavalles is one of the leading neohellenists in the United States. His scholarly contribution and his poetry have appeared in several journals in the United States and abroad, and since 1960 he has served as executive co-editor of The Charioteer: An Annual Review of Modern Greek Culture. He is also a founding member of the Modern Greek Studies Association. In 1977 he received the Poetry Prize of the Academy of Athens. Currently, he is professor in the English Department at Farleigh Dickinson University, where he has been teaching since 1961.
