Mykonos: Only the Best)
"Only the Best" became viable by star-rating and getting down to details describing the best sites, beaches, accomodations, food and entertainment. It's hardly surprising that MYKONOS counts among the world's most highly prized and desirable destinations, gathering holidaymakers from every corner of the earth, for it is truly a jewel, a necklace of amazing beaches on sparkling seas, crowned with the cubist wonder in white of its Hora - the style of architecture of the Cyclades that so many world class architects have tried to imitate, plus its twin island of Delos, an archaeological monument and museum of itself full of masterpieces of ancient Greece. Mykonos is also served by an exceptional network of travel connections, by air or sea and it is of course famed for its swinging nightlife and excellent amenities. The island has always been a favourite gathering place for gays, who, although they constitute a small proportion of the hordes of visitors, are in many cases largely responsible for preserving the island's traditional and unique aspect from the inroads of tasteless mass tourism. On Mykonos you'll see members of the Athenian and international jet set freely mingling with all and sundry to seek a place in the shade under an umbrella or a table for a meal. Whatever your age group, you should absolutely see Mykonos at least once. You may not enjoy the crowds or that the entire place throbs to the sound of entertainment, and may not go back again, but to miss it when visiting the Greek islands is like travelling to the States and not seeing New York.
